Improve your supervisory skills to better support your students
Do you supervise master’s or PhD students? This interactive two-day online workshop will help you develop practical skills and best practices to effectively support your students. You’ll learn how to navigate supervisory challenges, build strong mentoring relationships, and balance this role with other responsibilities.

📅 Day 1: foundations of effective supervision
An interactive session open to all supervisors, introducing best practices in supervision and how to support students at any stage of their academic journey.
📅 Day 2: tailored sessions for master’s and PhD supervisors
- Session 1 (90 min): best practices for supervising master’s students, including project management and common challenges.
- Session 2 (90 min): strategies for PhD supervision, focusing on guiding independent research and aligning student progress with research team goals.

Your trainer
Caroline Broad has over 20 years of experience facilitating teams and delivering skills training for researchers and university staff in STEM. She specializes in professional development, with a focus on self-awareness, leadership, and mentoring strategies. Caroline is a certified practitioner in neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), Belbin Team Roles, and mental health first aid, among other professional coaching methodologies.
